A proud tradition of greeting customers with a smile and a friendly “hello” has led to Good 2 Go manager Carolyn Cox receiving the latest Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Award.
Chamber president Joseph Shumway and office manager Victoria Dickson surprised Cox with the award Tuesday, presenting her with $25 in Chamber Bucks and the traveling “trophy” of Rio the Wild Mustang for her business.
Cox has been with the convenience store on the west side of Lovell for 31 years, originally hired at the then Saveway store by Charlotte Armstrong. She became the manager 20 years ago when the store was sold to Red Eagle. It has been Good 2 Go for the last four years, she said. Cox said she tells her employees to smile as customers enter the store, be polite and give them a friendly greeting. “Treat them as you would want to be treated when you walk into a place,” she said is her instruction. “I hear stories of other places and I tell them, ‘That better not happen here.’ “I greet everyone even though I’m bad with names.” Customers who nominated Cox for the award wrote: “Always happy! Willing to do whatever you need;” “Love her! She makes everyone feel like family;” “Excellent service and very pleasant;” “Always cheerful and helpful” and “Always willing to go to extreme measures to be helpful. Keep a good attitude, even with training new employees all of the time. Keep up the good work!” Shumway and Dickson thanked Cox for her work and told her they appreciate her customer service.
The chamber’s customer service award is presented monthly to employees at local businesses who make a positive impression on those who do business at their establishment. Nomination slips can be found at businesses throughout the community and are then taken to the chamber office for the monthly selection.
Store owners and managers are asked to take the nominations to Dickson at the chamber office on a regular basis.
